home made laundry detergent, 1 year in...

so we've been using the same home made no-frills laundry detergent for over a year now, from the baby's first days to right now, around 16 months and well into solid food. it's worked very well so far, for both all the baby clothing a well as cloth diapers. for the clothing we usually do a single run with cool or warm water, and the diapers two runs with the first using hot water + detergent and the second run with cool/cold and just a rinse. the mom feels just the first run is enough, so depending on who runs the load that varies a bit... :)

we have been graced with a relatively consistent poop schedule, which means very few poo-soaked cloth diapers. for the occasional ones that do happen, we make a paste with oxy free and rub it into the cloth. it doesn't get it out 100%, but is good enough if you don't care about visually perfect diaper inserts.
